The Carabao Cup returns this evening with two all Premier League fixtures at the Quarter Final Stage. Now even though tonight’s fixtures can’t compete for any match day dividends, the key headliner makers will be sure to dominate the media headlines and potential media dividends!
The two games tonight are both all Premier League encounters. First up sees Arsenal welcome West Ham to the Emirates. The Hammers have been resurgent since David Moyes took the helm, but it is likely to be two very different teams facing each other than the fixture between the two last week, as teams gear up for the festive period. With this in mind we can expect some Arsenal youngsters to be given another opportunity to shine, will the likes of Eddie Nketiah (£0.72) and Ainsley Maitland-Niles (£0.63) continue to push Arsene Wenger for a first team spot? Or will the likes of Theo Walcott (£0.99) follow Jack Wilshere (£1.49) back into starting contention?
For the Hammers, the forward line under Moyes has seen Andy Carroll (£0.65) and Javier Hernandez (£0.68) drop to the bench so both will surely feature this evening! Hopefully not another 0-0!
The other quarter final sees the high flying sharks Manchester City travel to the King Power to take on Claude Puel’s Leicester City. So much has been written about Pep Guardiola’s team in recent days, but the Catalan will no doubt be looking to win as many trophies as possible and will expect his second string to do the job tonight. Will we get to see exciting youngster Phil Foden (£1.50) and goalscorer from the weekend Ilkay Gundogan (£0.91) in the middle of the park? Trying to stop them will be Leicester who after the set back against Palace at the weekend will be looking to get back on track and secure a semi final berth. Will Jamie Vardy (£0.74) and Riyad Mahrez (£1.67) combine to show that the Cityzens can be brought down? Now that would generate some headlines!
