England’s Novices in Dier Straits?

England take on the World Champions this evening at Wembley, but the visit of Germany had rarely been less heralded with the mass exodus of England stars from the squad, tonight’s friendly has a look of novices!

The mass withdrawals being faced by Gareth Southgate is due to supposed injuries, but it has also forced the manager into looking for a new captain with Jordan Henderson (£0.72) and Harry Kane (£7.77) the leading candidates absent. The honour of being England captain was bestowed on Spurs midfielder/defender Eric Dier (£0.71) yesterday and what a game to take the armband! The news saw his price rise by 4p but Indexers will be seeing how he performs with one eye on Russia next year.

One of the debutants this evening is in for a real chance of winning the Media Buzz this evening and that is Swansea’s on loan hitman, Tammy Abraham (£1.61). The Chelsea youngster has starred for the Swans despite their tough start to the season and the striker has an opportunity to force his way into Southgate’s plans for the 2018 squad with a fine performance at Wembley tonight.

Most of the withdrawals have been in the middle of the park and with Jack Wilshere (£1.31) continuously overlooked, the manager has selected several debutants. One of the newcomers to the Index courtesy of IPOs has been Burnley’s Jack Cork (£0.71) who may play a part at some point this evening. Likewise Crystal Palace’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been guaranteed a start by Southgate this evening and looks one to keep an eye out for future IPOs.

Will England be humbled tonight or will the youngsters force their way into Southgate’s thinking for Russia?
