As far as Index debuts go, yesterday was perhaps one of the best first days for a new player that we’ve seen in quite some time!
Earlier in the day Ciro Immobile (£1.77) had staked his claim to the PB dividend for best forward with a stellar performance (and a PB score of 168) during Lazio’s 5-1 rout of Benevento. The Italian striker scored one and set up three during the game and was justly rewarded with the man of the match award. Immobile is an absolute machine when it comes to goals this season and with 14 in 11 league games. The press have linked the Italian with a massive move to Chelsea come January. The writing is on the wall and if he continues this form, it probably won’t be long until one of the big boys bite. However, back to his performance yesterday and even after grabbing a goal and 3 assists, Immobile was still undone by another player: up step Nabil Fekir!
We’d spoken about the great start to the season Fekir has had a couple of days ago and Fekir was the main man again yesterday as Lyon eased to a 2-0 win against bottom of the table Metz. Fekir’s brace in the first half triggered a transfer dash and the Frenchman’s value very quickly shot up; at one point he even hit the £3.00 mark!
As the match came to an end, the damage had been done in the first half and Fekir was able to easily grab the PB and best overall player dividend with a very impressive score of 251 points. All in all a great start to life on the Index!

Although some traders will have flipped to cash in some juicy profits, Fekir remains available at a very solid price of £2.87. It seems many traders have opted to stick with Fekir for the time being and it seems that they may well be onto a winner. Fekir will surely be a firm favourite on Thursday evenings when it comes to the Europa League and there will be many traders hoping Lyon can progress as far as possible this year!
With his first score pushing the £3.00 mark, Nabil Fekir has quickly endeared himself to the Football Index faithful and it really does look as though we may well have found another gem on the Football Index!
