It’s fair to say that it’s been quite the season for Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian maestro has been in unstoppable form throughout the entire season and he notched up another master class this weekend with just the four goals as Liverpool hammered Watford 5-0.
On a day in which Salah chalked up a treble dividend victory (media ranking, best striker and best overall player) the Football Index traders were clamouring amongst one another to get in on the action! Salah’s price tag has seen two significant jumps in very quick succession; first of all, we saw a jump from £6.37 up to £6.96 during his exploits against Watford. Since the Watford game, Salah has continued to increase in value and he currently sits at £7.65 as of the time of writing.
Salah’s insane form continues to draw comparisons with Leo Messi (£10.09) and he’s looking a shoe-in to make it another Media Ranking win on the bounce! Salah currently leading the golden boot, and I can’t think of another Premier League player who stands to generate as much buzz as Salah at this moment of time! But what makes Salah so exciting is the potential transfer rumours which are currently doing the rounds. Real Madrid have got their sights set on Salah; something that could well lead to lots of media attention this summer. It will certainly be interesting to see how Salah continues to shape up on the market, as he doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon!
Another player who just can’t stop scoring at the moment is Inter’s Argentine striker Mauro Icardi (£2.55). Icardi smashed four goals against his former club Sampdoria yesterday and he was subject to some intense investment as a result. Having momentarily hit the £3.00 mark, Icardi has since decreased to his current state. Nonetheless, he has definitely shown a glimpse of what may be yet to come. Although Icardi has expressed his loyalty to Inter, it still isn’t beyond the realms of possibility that a move to another European giant is on the cards in the near future; watch this space for now!
Despite Icardi’s impressive display, he was outdone by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo (£8.43) who won the best striker and best overall player on the day. This came after Ronaldo produced a truly epic display on the Index with over 300 points following his own set of four goals against Girona, during a thrilling 6-3 encounter. Ronaldo is up 40p over the past 24 hours as a result and something tells me he isn’t going to remain in the £8.00 club for too much longer… as you’d do well to make a move sooner rather than later!
