The UEFA Nations League got underway last night and it was Wales in Ryan Giggs first home game as the manager who grabbed the headlines with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Ireland.
It should come as little surprise that Gareth Bale (£7.14) and Aaron Ramsey (£3.13) were central to everything good that the Welsh national team did with both getting in the scoresheet yesterday. This saw the Real Madrid man rise by £0.36 in the last 24 hours alone on Football INDEX but these two stars weren’t alone yesterday as another Welshman took his opportunity to shine.
That man? It’s Chelsea’s seventeen-year-old defender Ethan Ampadu (£1.83). As I write the youngster is currently sitting atop of the trending list having enjoyed a huge surge in the last 24 hours. Yesterday morning traders could pick up Ampadu for £1.41 a share, this has risen by £0.42 a share or 29% in a day.
The reason for his rise was simple. His stunning performance as a defensive midfielder in his first competitive start for his country, in which he claimed an assist. The match reports were glowing in their assessments of his performance and traders too were quick to purchase shares as they turn their attention to the future. The youngster has been a regular on the UEFA annual list of youngsters to watch out for and he clearly took his opportunity to shine last night.
The UEFA Nations League appears to have given traders a real glimpse into the future of the Welsh National side! But will we be seeing more of Ampadu at Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri this season?
