England travel to Germany this evening in a friendly at Borussia Dortmund’s Westfalenstadion. Both sides will be using the occasion to prepare for their upcoming qualifiers for the World Cup in Russia. England face Lithuania and Germany travel to Azerbaijan on Sunday. As a result of injuries England have taken the opportunity to blood in several youngsters, with Gareth Southgate promoting several from the Under 21 set up. Tonight’s friendly gives Indexers an opportunity to view potential long term English talent at first hand.
The Southampton duo of James Ward-Prowse (£0.61) and Nathan Redmond (£0.69) were two of the surprise names on Southgate’s team list for the round of international fixtures but both have been enjoying fine seasons. Ward-Prowse was on the scoresheet at the weekend versus Spurs which saw his price spike and continue to rise. Whilst Redmond is currently trading at an all time high after stellar performances, such as the semi final victory in the EFL Cup against Liverpool. Both players offer traders flip opportunities should they be involved in the fixture and could be set for long term price rises also.
The injury crises for England is most acute in the forwards and as a result Marcus Rashford (£3.06) has been called up when it was thought he would be turning out for the under 21s. The forward has been in the shadow of Zlatan Ibrahimovic (£5.98) at Old Trafford this season but remains a long term prospect on the Index with traders maintaining their interest which has by in large left his price stable in the recent volatility. There is a real opportunity that Rashford may start in Dortmund and a solid performance will only enhance his value on the Index and will also boost his buzz potential.
Lots for traders to be interested in tonight’s friendly!
