The final weekend of August Premier League action is upon us, with so many talking points to discuss.
Manchester United travel to Southampton in Saturday’s early kick-off with Traders keeping close tabs on Index favourites Marcus Rashford and Daniel James. High riser Teemu Pukki and Norwich City are away at West Ham and current League leaders Liverpool face-off with Burnley in the late kick-off. However, this weekend belongs to North London as the red side go head to head with the white side.
Premier League Match of the Weekend: Arsenal vs Tottenham
Of course, it has to be the North London Derby. Both clubs enter the fierce match-up on the back-end of a loss – however, the visitors will have more of a sting in their tail after the more embarrassing defeat against Newcastle United at home. The match is never short of entertainment, feisty challenges, goals and most importantly, dividends.
The hosts showed some promising signs in the defeat to Liverpool last weekend. New signing Pepe seemed to link up well with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but lacked support from the midfield when breaking on the attack. The faithful will be hoping the £72 million man can feature in the starting line-up again, and showcase his tricky feet and lightning pace.
Tottenham were massively frustrated by a rigid Newcastle side last week and will be annoyed with their lack of creativity in the final third. Harry Kane got very little service as the midfield struggled to find their talisman with any quality balls. However, they are facing an Arsenal defence renowned for errors and poor communication. It is likely they will get plenty of chances and this could be one for the books.
Rest of the weekend:
Chelsea will hope their youngsters can continue to build on their strong performances against Norwich as they host newly-promoted Sheffield United and Crystal Palace also host Aston Villa.
Traders will be excited to watch the exciting and youthful Leicester City side play against AFC Bournemouth who have a number of young talents themselves. The Champions Manchester City face off against Brighton and Hove Albion whilst Newcastle United are against Watford and West Ham United play Norwich all at 3pm on Saturday.
In the late kick-off, Liverpool travel to Burnley as they look to remain on top of the table and continue their perfect start. All of the Reds attacking force are fully fit so expect goals and plenty of chances for Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
On Sunday, Everton host Wolves in a match that could provide fireworks as both clubs are aiming to break through into the top six league positions dominated for years unsurprisingly by the ‘Top Six’. All of this action is before the aforementioned ‘Premier League Match of the Weekend’.
Premier League Player to Watch: Sébastien Haller vs Norwich City (£1.75)
Sebastien Haller looks to have settled well into the West Ham side and proved that last weekend with an impressive brace. He should play a key part in the Hammers side this weekend up against a dangerous Norwich City at the London Stadium. Whilst Norwich do prove a threat going forward, they often leave themselves exposed at the back.
He should get plenty of chances and looks likely to start with Antonio out for a number of weeks.
