Earlier this week we looked at the recent success of Vincius Junior (£8.64) on the Football Index and it’s surely only a matter of time until another Brazilian star begins to hit the same heights. Real Madrid really weren’t taking any chances in letting any of the next generation of Brazilian talent slip through the net. With Vinicius Junior already in the bag, Los Merengues have also secured the services of Santos starlet Rodrygo Goes (£5.76) who joins in the summer for a reported fee of around £40million.

Index traders holding onto Rodrygo will have many reasons to feel bullish about the Brazilian, especially when you compare his trajectory to that of fellow compatriot Vinicius Junior. Since becoming more of a main stay in the first team, we’ve seen some major investment in Vincius and his price rise can only be a good thing for Rodrygo.
There are many similarities between the path being trodden by these two up and coming stars. Both were standout performers at a very young age in the Brazilian league and they were both able to make an impact in the first team for their respective clubs in Brazil, Flamengo and Santos. Having just turned 18, Rodrygo has already hit double figures for Santos this year, managing an impressive 12 goals so far. Both players are quickly establishing themselves in the Brazil U20 squad and it will surely only be a matter of time until they are knocking on the door of the Brazil first team! In fact, Brazil coach Tite has already praised Rodrygo for his ‘maturity’ for one so young!
With all these comparisons, it raises the question of whether Rodrygo can follow Vinicius in terms of a price trend. He’s currently just over £2.00 lower than Vinicius on the Index, but it is realistic to think that this gulf could quickly decrease, especially if Rodrygo can make a similar impact once he does join the club. In fact, yesterday’s movement showed that Rodrygo is already riding on the coattails of Vinicius, following a very impressive performance in moving up by 36p over the past 24 hours!
In terms of playing style, Rodrygo is an incredible dribbler on the ball capable of producing some waltzing wing-play, with his slaloming runs often leaving the opposition in his wake. A low centre of gravity and a rapid injection of pace are additional weapons in his Arsenal. With his playing style and current club, it’s no wonder he has already been touted as the next ‘Neymar’!

Just like Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo is certainly a very raw talent still. Although he hasn’t even played a single minute for Madrid yet, it’s easy to see why many traders are excited about Rodrygo. Los Merengues have already stockpiled some of the brightest Brazilian talent and Index traders would surely do well to begin stockpiling their own futures in these stars before it’s too late!
