Euro 2016 is drawing to a close with the England team sent packing with their tails between their legs by minnows Iceland predictably early in the tournament. The final is between hosts France and Portugal, with Eder striking a winner in extra time for the Portuguese. This wasn’t the only story in town though as the Index was experiencing buzz dominance that it had never seen before.
Paul Labille Pogba was busy playing in midfield for France at the tournament but this didn’t stop the rumours about where he may end up when the tournament came to a close. On a daily basis the media was wild with speculation about the Frenchman’s return to Old Trafford for a world record transfer fee of £100 Million! Such speculation led to a dominance of the buzz not seen since, Pogba won 35 buzz wins in July and August 2016 as rumours spread of him joining, not joining and of his latest haircut!
His price on the Index crept up from £1.20 to £2.20 over this period with punters who got on at the the beginning of July making £1.75 per future in these two months alone from buzz wins alone, that’s more than 100% ROI!
It’s clear that memories of this buzz dominance have stuck with traders as they try and manoeuvre portfolios to make the most of this years transfer saga. Prime candidate being Antoine Griezmann (£4.23) who has seen his value sore above £5.50 with the transfer speculation despite not yet winning a buzz. Traders for one are hoping this one like, Pogba is long, drawn out and with lots of back and forth reporting!
