Well, well, well transfer deadline day didn’t disappoint did it! The expected dominoes and main stories all seemed to fall into place, with the old adage that you can’t buy any value in January, seemingly smashed apart. After all of the hype of the window, there is now a period of calm once again in the Football world and today represents a treble media dividends day! Who will be in competition?
It’s little surprise that the candidates are all strongly linked to the big moves of the transfer window for the 8p, 5p and 2p dividends respectively. Arsenal’s big money deadline capture of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£3.45) has certainly excited Gunners and the media will surely be full of stories trying to identify who Arsenal will now line up with PEA in the squad!
One of the more shocking stories of the window was the capture of Olivier Giroud (£1.62) by Antonio Conte at Chelsea. After being linked with anyone over 6ft 3inches on the window, the capture of Giroud is very intriguing for the Index and Chelsea fans. Will he dislodge Alvaro Morata (£2.58) from the starting eleven? This intrigue currently sees the Frenchman atop of the dividends race. Will he still be there at midnight?
Another candidate is arguably the biggest transfer story of the window, Manchester United’s, Alexis Sanchez (£6.58). The Chilean made his Premier League debut for the Red Devil’s in a massively underwhelming performance by the whole squad as they lost 2-0 to Spurs. This will, of course, bring the focus of the media on his individual performance, which can only mean dividends, dividends and more dividends! Could he top the pile?
Finally, a special mention must go to the PSG superstar, Neymar (£9.04) who is always there or there about with media dividends points. As I write he is second in the list and those Madrid links and supposed discontent in the French capital at music to the ears of Neymar futures owners!
Who do you think will capitalise on the Treble Media day?
